Use in high temperature thermal processes
Fused Quartz, as an industrial raw material, is used to make various refractory shapes such as crucibles, trays, shrouds and rollers for several high temperature thermal processes including steel-making, investment casting and glass manufacture.
Refractory shapes made from Quartz glass have excellent thermal shock resistance and are chemically inert to most components and compounds including almost all acids, regardless of the application.
Options for quartz glass tubes
Translucent fused silica quartz tubes are normally used to replace electric elements in room heaters, industrial furnaces and other similar applications.
Anderman Ceramics is proud to supply all sizes and shapes of tubes, a challenging example was to develop a massive quartz tube which was over 2.5 metres in length and 140 mm external diameter.

Applications for quartz products
Types of quartz available
Standard – various grades of the basic material
High purity – clear with reduced hydroxyl levels – visual clarity – optics
Semiconductor grade – very high purity, excellent sag resistance, no/few defects
Infrared translucent – slight milky colour – infrared and semiconductor uses
Frosted translucent – acid etched milky coloured (used mainly for halogen lamps)
Opaque – white colour similar to the colour of alumina
Ozone free – blocks high energy wavelengths that cause ozone generation
Uv quartz – similar/same as ozone free – transmit uv-a and uv-b waves
Uv blocking – quartz doped with cerium to block uv wavelengths (allows maximum light without uv exposure)
